My personal passions are as diverse as my research and teaching interests. I have always been a global traveler, and I am fortunate that my work provides many opportunities in this area. An avid motorcyclist who suspended riding for many years, I am back with a vengeance. Between commuting to work, taking adventure tours across the U.S. and various foreign countries, and frequent riding in the Smoky Mountains, I usually surpass 24,000 miles per year on my BMW motorcycles. I also participate enthusiastically in other outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, hiking, and hunting. When I’m not exploring the great outdoors, I love to cook, dance, and support the arts. In quieter moments, it’s tough to beat a gripping book read under an umbrella on one of South Florida’s beautiful beaches or in front of a warm winter fire in the NC mountains. Of course, what makes these activities truly enjoyable is sharing them with family members, friends, and coworkers. Creating memories never gets old!
